About Hexa Ezarri Mosaic Tiles

Hexa is Ezarri's hexagonal mosaic format, a six sided glass tessera that replaces the familiar square grid with a honeycomb pattern. As the exclusive Australian distributor of Ezarri, Europe Imports supplies Hexa in solid, blended, mineral and iridescent designs, every sheet made in Lazkao, Spain from recycled glass and mounted on the patented JointPoint® system.

It is the format to reach for when the geometry itself is part of the design.

Australia's Hexagonal Alternative to the Square Mosaic

Almost every glass mosaic pool tile sold in Australia is square. That is exactly why a hexagon reads as a considered decision rather than a default one.

A square grid produces continuous straight grout lines in two directions, which the eye reads as calm and regular. A hexagonal layout breaks that grid into a staggered honeycomb, so the eye follows the pattern instead of the line. Underwater, with surface movement and refraction working across it, that pattern reads as texture and depth rather than as a repeating graphic. Above the waterline, on a spa, a bench seat, a swim out or a feature wall, the change in geometry marks the zone without needing a change of colour.

Hexa is a format rather than a colour range, so choosing it costs you nothing in performance. The tile is the same fully vitrified, non-porous Ezarri glass used across the catalogue, with the colour running through the body rather than printed on the surface.

‍

Explore the Hexa Designs

Hexa draws its colours from four established Ezarri palettes, which gives the format a genuine spread of looks:

  • Niebla blends bring the softly misted, traditional pool colour that Australian pool builders have specified for decades.
  • Lisa delivers a clean, uniform solid tone for minimalist and contemporary work.
  • Iris contributes the iridescent designs, including Hexa Azur, Hexa Jade and Hexa Perla, each carrying a pearl effect that shifts with light and viewing angle.
  • Gemma adds the mineral inspired designs, among them Hexa Moonstone and Hexa Olivine, named for the stones they take their colour from.

Hexa is produced as a hexagonal tessera in a 25mm size, distinct from the square 25mm and 50mm formats. Not every Ezarri colour is made in the hexagonal format, and Safe Step and Corner and Cove pieces are produced for selected designs only, so contact our team to confirm availability before you specify a particular Hexa colour.

Engineered in Spain, Installed in Australian Pools

Every Hexa sheet is manufactured from 100% recycled glass and backed by Ezarri's patented JointPoint panelling system, relied on for high end pool projects worldwide. Small flexible dots hold the hexagons in their aligned pattern while leaving 92% of the tile back open for direct adhesive contact, and the sheet stays flexible enough to follow curves, coves and detailed pool geometry. Ezarri's published technical data states that JointPoint® can reduce installation time by approximately 25% compared with traditional methods, in part because there is no face paper to soak and peel after fixing.

One practical note for tilers. A honeycomb pattern is less forgiving of a drifting set out than a square grid, because a misalignment shows across three axes rather than two. Sheet joins should be dry laid and checked before fixing, and the layout planned from a considered starting line. As with any glass mosaic installation, the shell, waterproofing, adhesive, grout and curing conditions all need to meet the requirements of the specified system, which our technical information area sets out in full.

‍

Where Hexagonal Mosaic Tiles Shine

Beyond swimming pools, hexagon glass mosaics have a long established place indoors. The format is a common choice for bathroom feature walls, shower niches, vanity splashbacks and kitchen splashbacks, where the pattern does the decorative work and the non porous glass surface resists staining, mould and chemical wear. In commercial fit outs it appears in hospitality bars, wellness areas and reception features, where a finish needs to be both hard wearing and distinctive.

Because the glass is vitrified rather than coated, the colour does not fade under UV, which makes Hexa equally suitable for outdoor water features, courtyards and alfresco splashbacks. Our project gallery shows how Ezarri mosaics behave across residential and commercial work.

Why Customers Choose Europe Imports

Our team works directly with homeowners, architects, interior designers and pool builders to get the right format and colour into a project. Hexagonal formats are produced in smaller volumes than the standard square tesserae, so we recommend confirming stock and batch availability early rather than at order stage. Ordering the full quantity in one batch keeps colour consistent, and a waste allowance of around 10% is a common starting point, rising to roughly 12 to 15% for curves, steps and feature detail.

Give us a call on 1300 EUROPE to order up to five free samples online, book a showroom appointment to compare designs in person, find your nearest stockist, or use our interactive Pool Visualiser to see your chosen Hexa design rendered in a finished pool before you commit.

HEXA FAQs
What size is an Ezarri Hexa tile?

Hexa is produced as a hexagonal glass tessera in a 25mm size. Because a hexagon is measured differently from a square, the sheet dimensions and the coverage per sheet also differ from the standard Ezarri formats. Confirm the exact tile and sheet measurements from the product technical data sheet before calculating quantities for a project.

Are hexagon mosaic tiles suitable for swimming pools?

Yes. Ezarri Hexa is manufactured from the same fully vitrified, non-porous glass used across the Ezarri pool range and is supplied on the JointPoint® system designed for permanent immersion. As with any pool mosaic, suitability depends on the mosaic, waterproofing, adhesive and grout being specified and installed as a complete, compatible system rated for immersion.

Can hexagon tiles follow the curves of a pool?

The JointPoint® sheet is flexible, so hexagonal mosaics can be worked around curved walls, coves and steps in the same way as square formats. Complex geometry usually requires more cutting at the perimeter than a square grid does, so allow additional wastage and bring your tiler into the set out discussion early.

Which Hexa designs are iridescent?

The Hexa designs drawn from the Iris palette, including Azur, Jade and Perla, carry a pearl effect that changes with light and viewing angle. The Niebla and Lisa designs are solid and blended colour, and the Gemma designs are mineral inspired. An iridescent finish is best assessed from a physical sample viewed outdoors in both sun and shade.

How does the hexagon pattern affect pool water colour?

Water colour is driven mainly by tile colour, water depth, sunlight and shade rather than by the shape of the tessera. The hexagonal pattern changes the texture and rhythm of the surface, not the water tone. Our Pool Visualiser is a useful starting point, and we recommend viewing samples outdoors before committing to a colour.

Is Hexa available with Safe Step or Corner and Cove pieces?

Availability of Safe Step and special pieces varies by design and is not offered across every Hexa colour. Contact the Europe Imports team with your chosen design and the application, such as submerged steps or a waterline detail, and we will confirm what is produced for that product before you specify it.

What grout should be used with Hexa hexagon mosaics?

Use a grout approved for permanent pool immersion and compatible with the collection the design comes from. A grout close to the dominant tile colour lets the surface read as continuous, while a contrasting grout emphasises the honeycomb geometry, which is a much stronger effect with hexagons than with squares. We can send grout samples alongside your tile samples.

How do I order Hexa samples in Australia?

Europe Imports posts up to five free samples anywhere in Australia. You can also book an appointment at our Kings Park showroom to view full sheets and completed project boards, or call 1300 387 673 for help narrowing a shortlist to the right design.
