Iridescent
A pearl finish that shifts through related tones as the light and viewing angle change, across the Iris, Vulcano and Gemma ranges.

Iridescent Ezarri mosaics carry a pearl finish that changes as light and viewing angle change, so the surface shifts through a range of related tones rather than holding one flat colour.
As the exclusive Australian distributor of Ezarri, Europe Imports supplies the full iridescent territory, from the pure pearl of Iris to the rippled volcanic face of Vulcano and the gemstone nuance of Gemma.
Colour That Moves With the Water
An iridescent tessera is finished so that its surface returns light at slightly different wavelengths depending on the angle it is struck and viewed from. Instead of a single fixed colour you see a pearl-like shift between related tones, the same effect that runs across the inside of a shell.
The important structural point is that this sits on a fully vitrified glass body with the base colour running through the piece. An iridescent Ezarri mosaic is not a printed or painted effect over a plain tile, and the underlying glass behaves exactly like the rest of the range: non porous, chemically stable and dimensionally stable in permanent immersion.
Iridescence depends on angle, which makes moving water its natural setting. Surface ripple continually changes the angle at which light reaches the tile and returns to the eye, so an iridescent pool interior reads as alive and shifting rather than as a fixed colour. The effect is strongest in shallow water, on steps and benches and across the waterline, and it softens with depth as the water column absorbs more light.
Explore the Iridescent Ezarri Ranges
Ezarri approaches iridescence in several distinct ways, and they are not interchangeable:
- Iris is the purest expression, a delicate yet daring design with a pearl finish. Single colours run from Ambar and Arena through Azur, Jade, Nacar, Ocean, Perla and Zafiro.
- Iris Mix blends those pearl tones across the sheet, in designs such as Diamond, Moon, Oasis, Sahara, Sky and Stone.
- Vulcano pairs an iridescent effect with a rippled volcanic texture, so light moves across a physically uneven face as well as an optically shifting one.
- Gemma takes its cue from gemstones, with designs named for stones such as Moonstone, Olivine, Peridot and Tanzanite, offering nuanced depth of colour rather than an overt pearl sheen.
- Our Australian Designer range includes pearlescent faced blends curated for Australian pools, among them Aquamarine, Atlantic, Honolulu, Manly and Topaz.
- Hexa offers iridescent designs, including Azur, Jade and Perla, in the hexagonal format.
Iris is produced in both 25mm and 50mm, and Safe Step pieces are available in several Iris designs, though not across every iridescent product.

Engineered in Spain, Installed in Australian Pools
Every iridescent Ezarri sheet is manufactured from 100% recycled glass and backed by Ezarri's patented JointPoint panelling system, which leaves 92% of the mosaic surface free for adhesive contact and stays flexible over curves, coves and detailed pool geometry. Ezarri's published technical data states it can reduce installation time by approximately 25% compared with traditional methods. Because the glass is vitrified with the colour running through the body rather than applied as a surface print, the range is backed by a 25 year colour fade guarantee.
Batch consistency matters more with this finish than any other, because a pearl surface makes small tonal differences between batches more visible. Order the full quantity at once wherever possible, and allow around 10% for waste on a straightforward layout, or roughly 12 to 15% where there are curves, raised spas or detailed steps, confirmed by your tiler from the measured set out.
Why Samples Matter More Here Than Anywhere Else
A photograph fixes one angle, one light source and one moment, which is precisely the information an iridescent finish is designed not to hold still. Screens compound the problem, rendering the colour shift as a single flat approximation.
Our recommendation is practical. Order up to five samples, take them outside, and look at each one in direct sun and in shade, from directly above and from a low angle, in the morning and again late in the day. Hold them against the coping, render and decking you are using. If the pool is visible from inside the house, view the samples from that position too, because the low viewing angle through a window gives a very different result to standing at the pool edge. Our Pool Visualiser is useful for narrowing a shortlist, and our project gallery shows how these finishes read once built, but neither should be the last step for this finish.
Time of day and orientation matter more than they do for a plain gloss. The same pool can read cool and silvery under a flat morning sky and warm and golden in late afternoon sun, and shade from a wall or tree will change the effect across different parts of the same pool. That is what the finish is for. It does mean that if a client expects one consistent colour all day, an iridescent mosaic is the wrong recommendation.
Where Iridescent Mosaic Tiles Shine
Indoors, iridescent glass earns its place where a surface is meant to be noticed. Shower niches, vanity splashbacks, powder room feature walls, bar fronts and reception features all benefit from a finish that changes as someone moves past it, and the effect is stronger under directional lighting than under diffuse daylight, so consider the lighting design alongside the tile.
The same caution applies as in a pool. Iridescent finishes are a feature material. Used across every surface in a room they become busy; used on one considered plane they do exactly what they are meant to. An iridescent waterline, spa, bench or feature wall against a plain glossy or matte field is a common and reliable approach.
Why Customers Choose Europe Imports
Based in Kings Park, our team can confirm which iridescent designs are produced in the format you need, whether Safe Step and Corner and Cove pieces are available for that design, and what current stock and batch availability look like, before any of it goes into a specification.

Iridescent pool tiles are glass mosaics finished so that the surface returns light differently depending on the angle it is viewed from, producing a pearl like shift between related tones rather than a single fixed colour. In Ezarri mosaics this sits on a fully vitrified, non porous glass body with the base colour running through the piece, so the tile performs in a pool the same way a standard glass mosaic does.
Iris is the core pearl finish collection, with Iris Mix blending those tones across the sheet. Vulcano combines an iridescent effect with a rippled texture, Gemma offers mineral inspired nuance, and the Australian Designer range includes pearlescent faced blends. Selected Hexa designs are also iridescent.
No, and that is the intent. Because the effect depends on the angle of light and of the viewer, an iridescent pool reads differently between morning and late afternoon, between sun and shade, and between standing at the edge and looking from inside the house. If a single consistent colour is the goal, a solid glossy or matte mosaic is a better fit.
Yes. The iridescent finish sits on fully vitrified, non porous glass that is chemically stable in chlorinated, saltwater and mineral systems, provided the mosaic, waterproofing, adhesive and grout are specified and installed as a complete, compatible system rated for permanent immersion.
Ezarri mosaics are vitrified glass with the colour running through the body rather than applied as a surface print, and the range is backed by a 25 year colour fade guarantee. Normal pool water chemistry, brushing and UV exposure are conditions the glass is manufactured for. Follow the maintenance guidance for the product and avoid abrasive cleaning methods not approved for glass.
As a general design guide, pale pearl tones such as Nacar and Perla lift the water towards a light silvery turquoise, mid blues such as Azur and Zafiro hold a classic blue with added movement, and greens such as Jade produce a softer, lagoon like result. Depth, shade, grout colour and surrounding materials all contribute, so confirm with samples outdoors.
Yes, and it is a common approach. An iridescent waterline, spa, bench or feature wall against a plain glossy or matte field gives you the movement where it is most visible without the whole pool shifting colour. Confirm that both designs are available in compatible formats so the coursing lines up.
Safe Step pieces are produced for selected designs, including several in the Iris range, but not across every iridescent product. Tell our team which design and which application you have in mind, such as submerged steps or a ledge, and we will confirm what is produced for it before you specify.
